The Adani Group has signed a multi-year agreement with Google Cloud to transfer its business-critical apps and cooperate in its data center operations.

According to a statement, the company plans to move over 250 business-critical applications on Google Cloud’s infrastructure, including database management software SAP HANA, to centralize workflows and optimize operations. The strategic collaboration entails a large-scale modernization of the group’s IT operations.

Because of the inevitability and rapidity of cloud adoption, every organization must reimagine its business model. This presents new challenges and possibilities that will be transformative and necessitate new kinds of industrial collaboration, according to Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group.

Google has been aggressively extending its footprint in India, lately announcing major collaborations with Reliance Jio and Airtel.

Jio announced a deal with Google Cloud in June 2021 to power its 5G services, retail, and other companies and develop new services in gaming, healthcare, and education. The country’s largest telecommunications company also stated that it will use Google Cloud’s AI/ML, data and analytics, and other cloud-native technologies.

Google also disclosed a $1 billion investment in Bharti Airtel. The goal of the alliance was to lower the cost of smartphones, accelerate 4G upgrades, and collaboratively create network domain 5G application cases.

Adani’s SAP migration is one of the most rapid they have seen at scale, and it’s already bringing major benefits to the company.  Their continuous collaboration will lead to the development of new digital platforms with transformational potential, stated Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud.

The Adani Group is making rapid progress in transferring its enormous IT footprint from its current on-premises data center and colocation assets to Google Cloud in the first phase of the Adani-Google cooperation.

Last year, the company entered the data center market by forming a joint venture with EdgeConneX, a renowned data center operator based in the United States, to build one gigawatt (GW) of data center capacity across the country.
