Apricorn, a renowned manufacturer of software-free, hardware-encrypted USB 3.2 storage devices, has launched Aegis Secure Key 3NXC, their first device with a USB-C connector. This product is the only hardware-encrypted flash key which is compatible with the next-generation smartphones, laptops tablets and hubs without using a separate A-to-C adapter.

The Aegis Secure Key 3NXC is Apricorn’s first hardware-encrypted flash key that is compatible with USB 3.2 C-ports without the use of an A-to-C adapter. It is designed with the USB 3.2 ports of the next-generation computers, smartphones and tablets. The Secure Key 3NXC series, like its predecessor the Secure Key 3NX, is economically priced to effectively protect the data of the workforces globally. It offers a range of 6 storage capacities from 4GB to 128GB through which the Secure Key 3NXC helps the IT admin to effectively align the device capacity with storage needs as per the needs of the individual employees. This reduces the overall cost of the company. The key is priced between the range of $59 to $179.

Kurt Markley, Apricorn’s Director of Sales, has observed that even before the COVID-19 pandemic, working remotely was on the rise. As the workforce shifted from office to home in a blink of an eye, the demand for encrypted keys also escalated quickly along with the demand for their A-to-C adapters. He said, “We accelerated the release of the Aegis Secure Key 3NXC to provide an efficient way of ensuring that employees using MacBooks, iPads and Android devices can securely store and move sensitive data, wherever they’re working.”

The Aegis Secure Key 3NXC is the final product of the Secure Key 3NX line and Apricorn updates it regularly to fight the evolving security threats for finance, government, healthcare and manufacturing industries. The 3NXC was created to be in sync with the market that is adopting thinner and smaller laptops and tablets which can’t accommodate a USB-A port.

The standard features of the product shared with the Aegis family are 256-bit AES XTS hardware encryption, onboard keypad authentication, complete cross-platform compatibility, separate admin and user access, read-only options, Aegis Configurator compatibility, programmable PIN lengths and data recovery PINs. There are many advantages of Apricorn’s hardware-encrypted USB storage devices. There is no host computer, authentication, encryption or software involved, which makes it impossible to hack. The data, passwords and encryption keys are 256-bit encrypted and IP-68 is validated against dust and water damage.
