The collaboration compiles Collibra as a managed service on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This official declaration of association between Google Cloud Platform and Collibra was shared by Jim Cushman, Chief Product Officer for Collibra, and Evren Eryurek, Director of Product Management for Google Cloud during a presentation at Google Next.

Collibra and Google Cloud aim to provide a cloud and source-agnostic data governance solution where the source or format of data is not known. It directly interfaces with Google Cloud security primitives as a managed service on GCP, enabling the imposition of native data governance policies. By virtue, Google continuously introduces security primitives into Google Cloud, and Collibra enables the policy provisioning for augmented data security, governance, and discoverability. This collation will help the organization with a seamless environment for multi-cloud data governance traversing involving features such as data acquisition workflow, maintenance of enterprise dictionary, and lineage tracking.

Evren Eryurek, the Director of Product Management for Google Cloud, stated that organizations collect both voluminous data and a vast array of data across all industries without a proper governance strategy. He continued that organizations run into challenges with data quality, data discovery, and compliance. Hence, the partnership with Collibra will provide a cost-effective and scalable solution for a secured and organized cloud platform that ensures that governance of data and analytics is at the core of all data processes.

Collibra ventured with Google before to develop an integration with Collibra Data Catalog. This feature facilitates organizations to understand which data is available, the purpose of data, and the source the data originates to help decision-making faster. Collibra Data Catalog supports a self-service shopping experience with automatic privacy enforcement, making it an actual enterprise governed catalog.

Jim Cushman, Chief Product Officer for Collibra, remarked that Collibra and Google have a common motive to equip organizations to build a robust data governance foundation. He said that they are looking forward to expanding their collaboration to allow companies to take advantage of a governed multi-cloud strategy and access a single window of data from anywhere in their organizations.
