Ekank Technologies, which operates the ThisDay vernacular storytelling platform, announced on Friday that it had raised $1 million in funding from a group of investors that included 9Unicorns, Venture Catalysts, Titan Capital, Bharat Founders Fund Syndicate, and Sujeet Kumar, creator of Udaan.

The funds will be used to maintain and develop the firm’s technological skills, as well as to bring additional storytellers from various formats to the platform. It also intends to grow its workforce across all divisions, with a focus on product and technology.

Ekank Technologies Co-Founder Summit Nayak claims the firm hopes to change the way stories are presented by allowing creators to share human-interest stories from history, art, culture, and heritage with a large audience.

India is a land of diversities, and despite this rich cultural diversity, there is a surprising void in the Indian startup scene pertaining to its rich legacy, which is at the risk of being lost and forgotten, remarked Chetan Rexwal, Co-Founder of Ekank Technologies.

Everything we see and encounter in our daily lives has a historical and cultural component to it. They are democratizing the way readers view nonfictional narrative through our platform, ThisDay, he added.
