Mendix, a Siemens business, and leading low-code application development platform, announces the expansion in Mendix Data Hub capabilities on Sept. 1, 2020, transforming the way to discover, understand, use and govern data for software development and other activities. Mendix Data Hub is a data virtualization service that transforms enterprise data resources to broadly accessible and actionable with drag-and-drop ease, integrating smoothly into the Mendix low-code application platform.

Mendix Data Hub is an essential part of Mendix’s expanded “all-in-one” low-code platform. Data Hub empowers developers to swiftly develop new software solutions that are profoundly integrated with core system data by extending the Mendix low-code approach to include data integration. This landmark capability is a solution to the most cumbersome and risky aspects of software development.

Additionally, Mendix is now the cloud platform at the heart of Xcelerator, the integrated portfolio of software and services from Siemens Digital Industries Software, which expedites the digital transformation cycle. Mendix Data Hub allows industrial customers to bring both systems and software together in an integrated platform to strengthen the power of Xcelerator further.

Derek Roos, CEO at Mendix, states that data is the significant common denominator for solving critical business problems. He further mentions that in reality, valuable data resources are often scattered throughout an enterprise that even the people leveraging them like business domain experts and developers, may not find where they reside or exist. Data Hub is the key to unlock this goldmine of data, which can be used to streamline operations, boost productivity, and gain real competitive advantage quickly and effortlessly, eliminating the need for custom integrations. According to him, it’s a critical new piece of the landscape and the potential to drive innovation and agility until no one has noticed before.

During a joint, live keynote presentation on Sept. 1, Johan den Haan, Mendix CTO, and Ross presented extensively about Mendix Data Hub. An on-demand Mendix World: Version 2.0 session, “Democratizing Data Integration for Makers,” moves in detail to the problems Data Hub was created to address, and the benefits this capability transfers to the enterprise.

According to Johan, integration is still messy and time-intensive for developers. Data Hub removes the friction of finding, connecting to, accessing, and messaging data that typically estimates 30 to 40% of application development time even for low-code developers.
