Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has joined hands with Yale University to introduce a new framework that promises to ensure privacy and trust in peer-to-peer digital networks. This framework is all set to play a vital role in promoting greater adoption of blockchain solutions by clients.

This solution addresses challenges faced by the frameworks that either lack good trust or depend on centralized management, which prohibits users from maintaining control over their data. Yale University and TCS have created this unique architecture with decentralized storage provided by Hyperledger Fabric and the IPFS peer-to-peer network and decentralized identities backed by Aries and Indy.

TCS was responsible for creating the identity element, while Yale researchers erected the core services and integrated the software components. Lastly, the teams collectively assessed the proof of concept, testing both its security and performance to support off-grid decentralized applications. The offering ensures a safe sharing of data and services via a fully-decentralized digital ecosystem, thus putting the power of controlling their data back in the customer’s hands.

According to Lakshminarasimhan Srinivasan, Global Head, Blockchain Services, TCS, decentralized identity is a compelling use case for blockchain technology, and TCS’ expertise in building identity platforms and related solutions further fortified their role in creating this framework. They are thrilled to be working with Yale University and proving it to the world that the use of decentralized technologies can exponentially bolster community networks’ security, all the while safeguarding individual privacy, Srinivasan added.

While expressing his views over the latest development, Nicholas Christakis, Yale Professor and Co-Chair, Tata-Yale Alliance, stated that this work is another prime example of a mutually beneficial partnership between Yale, the Tata Group, and TCS. He further elaborated that it is an absolute pleasure to witness that the first established collaboration in 2016 continues to produce valuable outcomes to solve current pressing challenges.
