Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) recently announced that it will hire around 1,000 new employees in New Jersey by the end of 2023 to meet customers’ growing need to digitally transform their organizations.
The largest Indian software services provider will increase the reach of its science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and computer science education programs in New Jersey by 25% in order to grow its local IT talent pool for the state. It will also improve teacher education and student programs.
More than 100 customers in New Jersey are served by TCS’ Edison Business Center, one of 30 TCS sites in the United States. TCS employs around 3,700 people in the state, providing IT and consulting services to a variety of industries using artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, and enterprise software.
TCS, according to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, is creating thousands of high-skilled jobs and generating considerable economic growth in the state. The economic mission trip to India in 2019 continues to show fruit, as we have seen significant investments in our state from Indian enterprises.
TCS has been one of the top two US recruiters of IT services talent for the previous five years, having hired over 21,500 people. TCS employs 556,986 people worldwide, with over 20,000 in the United States, the company’s largest client, and revenue market. As part of efforts to lessen visa dependency, IT service businesses have been investing in developing local talent in their key regions.
TCS Chairman of North America Surya Kant stated that New Jersey is a key technology hub for the company and is emerging as an innovation center. TCS is dedicated to developing tomorrow’s technology leaders across New Jersey through STEM projects and volunteerism, so they can continue to drive economic growth and give back to their local communities.
