The Buffalo News has partnered with Energage, a technology firm that empowers workplace success and the organization behind the Top Workplaces awards, to deliver Top Workplaces distinction to businesses in the Greater Buffalo region.

The Top Workplaces awards honor companies that are dedicated to workplace excellence. Organizations with 35 or more employees in the Western New York region can submit to be designated one of Buffalo’s Top Workplaces beginning in late August.

Bob Helbig, Energage’s media relations director, stated that they are thrilled to bring the Top Workplaces awards back to the Buffalo area and restart their partnership with The Buffalo News. He added that there are numerous world-class firms in Western New York that need to be recognized.

In 2014 and 2015, the Buffalo News, which Lee Newspapers own, sponsored the Top Workplaces program.

Top Workplaces participants are rated based on responses to a confidential 24-question employee engagement survey. The survey, created by Energage people scientists, draws on the industry’s most reliable benchmarks, based on Energage’s 15 years of research and data from 70,000 companies with 23 million employees.

For the 12 months following the conclusion of their survey, nominees are also eligible for regional and national prizes. Participants will receive data-driven insights from their employees’ comments, allowing them to set themselves apart from the competition by standing out as a great place to work and do business.

Jeannie Parent, senior vice president of media sales for The Buffalo News, said that Buffalo is a flourishing hub for banking, education, industry, logistics, and tourism as the state’s second-largest region. She said that through Top Workplaces, they are pleased to spotlight our many unique businesses.
