YouTube advertising returns have fluctuated between Q1 2019 and Q1 2020, with the lowest posted in the first quarter of 2019 at $3.03 billion. Overall, ad income has increased by 98.34% over the same period. Netflix sales, on the other hand, have increased by 58.4 percent.

The study describes how YouTube’s ad revenue has nearly caught up to Netflix’s in the last year. According to the findings of the research, the health crisis has benefited both YouTube and Netflix. But the former has drawn more viewers since it is primarily free and has a diverse content collection. During the recession, many people lost their jobs, and YouTube provided an opportunity to earn money, resulting in an explosion of content creators on the video-sharing site. Competition is increasing as more content creators flock to YouTube. The rate of viewership on the platform is directly influenced by quality. Because of its enduring popularity, YouTube has provided marketers with a cost-effective way to reach a larger audience.

Overall performance of YouTube’s ad revenue has a greater chance of surpassing Netflix’s, assuming that Google products pose no challenge in market competition. As YouTube expands its products, such as YouTube TV and YouTube Music, revenue can rise even further to other parts of the world.

Netflix is being put to the test by other subscription services, such as Amazon Prime and Disney+.
